I and my family have had a degree life for about 3 years and not only is it a total privacy violation, we have also identified so many inaccuracies in the persecution. When we first got it, I was in high school in my senior year. A special incident occurred during my musical rehearsal at high school. I wasn't anywhere in this area before going to school because my house was going in the opposite direction and the rehearsal was right after school.
I had to have several friends who spoke to my mother to reassure her that we were at school for a trial. If I hadn't answered my phone when she called, she could very well have called the police and sent them to this house to find me when I wasn't even there.
These inaccuracies are not only annoying and confusing for my parents and me, but the complete violation of privacy is also a big problem. I understand that I want to make sure everyone in a family is safe, but I'm 20 years old and still need to use this app. Around when I got to high school, my mom made me get this app. She has always been overprotective, but i could deal with it before. Even before I got the app, she would always text and ask if I'm okay every like 10 minutes.
She still does it now with the app. I just feel like i am always being watched. My friends would want me to come with them around halftime to go to the convenience store nearby.
I already knew that asking would be fruitless as she is extremely over protective. I considered maybe just going there on my own accord with them, as I was becoming my own man and I wanted to be independent.
However due to this app, I knew if I even went to the parking lot my mom would set my phone off like a thermonuclear warhead with texts. What is the harm in going with people to the grocery store to get good snacks and maybe some donuts? This is all in WV by the way, where everyone is friends and you don't even need to lock your doors.
Anyway my main point here is that this app makes me feel like I am trapped in a bubble. My teenage years are all but gone and I have had to sit around doing nothing.
This app genuinely made me consider ending it all at one point simply due to the combined pressure of basically not having my teen years and feeling like my mom hated me. Thanks Life team. My mom and I had a really good relationship until about a month after downloading this app.
She and my step dad would look at our locations multiple times a day about where the app claimed we were. For example, I went to the library on campus one night to study and the app showed me sitting in a parking lot two miles away.
I later got a text from my step dad who was furious asking where I was and calling me a liar. I no longer have any interest in having a relationship with either of them now.
For the parents reading this review, I know you want to keep your children safe but instead of tracking their every move talk to them, establish trust with them and let them know they can come to you about things and have open lines of communication.
I promise it will work so much better than any app ever could.
