The Coromandel Coast is the southeastern coast region of the Indian subcontinent , bounded by the Utkal Plains to the north, the Bay of Bengal to the east, the Kaveri delta to the south, and the Eastern Ghats to the west, extending over an area of about 22, square kilometres. Coromondel is the Dutch pronunciation of "Karimanl", a village in the Sriharikota island in the north of Pazhavercadu Pulecat Lake. There is a Dutch Cemetery belonging to the seventeenth Century at Pulicat. It is said that the first Dutch ship stopped here for fresh drinking water, and upon asking the name of the place Karimanal was spelled as Coromondal K replaced with C and d inserted. Agriculture is the mainstay of the coastal economy. Rice, pulses legumes , sugarcane, cotton, and peanuts groundnuts are grown.

These are the best places you should bet on if you're trying to spot whales from land in Iceland! I have never seen a sea mammal from the shore in Iceland, not even a seal, so frankly I did not know how to answer this question. I started asking around and soon found out that although spotting whales from the coast is not very common, sightings are more common in some places than others.

There are in fact some places in the capital where you could spot a whale from the land. I have to admit that I've never seen a whale from land in Reykjavik, but I actually haven't really been on the lookout.

Orcas are quite common in the area and so are dolphins and porpoises. Whales are more commonly seen from land in the summer. There are various reasons why whales dare to travel so close to the shore, the most common is that they are following schools of herring or other species. The video below was taken at that bridge, the orcas are actually swimming under the bridge and out of the fjord. When the rescue squad arrived, many of the whales were stranded on the beach.

Members of the rescue squad and other observers did a great job pushing the whales afloat, saving the lives of most of them. A similar incident occurred at Rif, a nearby town, just a few years ago. These events are also quite common in the Faroe Islands. Scientists do not have an explanation for this odd behaviour; one hypothesis was that a leader whale got confused, swam towards the coast while the other whales followed.

Pilot whales are known to follow a single leader whale, so that might have been the issue. The best conditions to see the whales is when the sea is calm, like it usually is during the night. I have to advise you to be extremely careful there because falling off the cliffs means instant death. No whales in sight, though. Puerto Madryn is a small coastal town wedged between the South Atlantic Ocean and the Patagonian desert. Traditionally this town was based on fishing and whaling but in recent years the whales have brought revenue into the town in the form of tourists. As the main access point to the Valdez Peninsula, the town attracts visitors from all over the world to see the penguins, seals and Southern right whales that calve and raise their young in the bay during the mild summer months. Many of us had spent a few days in the area prior to joining Plancius in order to see some of the wildlife along the coast. At members of the Expedition team met us at the start of the pier to begin to assist with our luggage and ensure we were able to get the bus along to the end of the pier.

Reasoning - Odd Man Out

Barrier islands are coastal landforms and a type of dune system that are exceptionally flat or lumpy areas of sand that form by wave and tidal action parallel to the mainland coast. They usually occur in chains, consisting of anything from a few islands to more than a dozen. They are subject to change during storms and other action, but absorb energy and protect the coastlines and create areas of protected waters where wetlands may flourish. A barrier chain may extend uninterrupted for over a hundred kilometers, excepting the tidal inlets that separate the islands, the longest and widest being Padre Island of Texas. Numerous theories have been given to explain their formation.
